We were recently contacted to photograph a milestone birthday portrait session for Sheila, a Nashville-based photographer. This session was designed to celebrate more than a birthday. It was an intentional portrait experience focused on confidence, presence, and personal style.

To begin planning, we sent out the Before the Shoot Questionnaire, which allows us to understand each client’s vision and create a customized portrait session. Sheila wanted an experience that felt elevated, meaningful, and memorable.

For professional makeup, Sheila collaborated with Tynita Lee of Make Up by Tynita, a Nashville makeup artist we frequently work with and trust. Her artistry added a polished finish that enhanced each look and helped Sheila feel camera-ready and confident.

The session location made this shoot especially unique. Photographing inside a mall was a first for us and offered a dynamic, modern setting that complemented Sheila’s vision. She chose two wardrobe looks: a stunning formal gown for the first set of portraits, followed by a bold second outfit featuring a leather short ensemble paired with tall leather boots. Each look reflected a different expression of her personality and style.

From start to finish, Sheila owned the session with confidence and joy. Every pose felt natural, and the experience captured the essence of celebrating a milestone with intention and self-expression.
